Relationship to me: Paternal grandfather
William Charles Strait‘s obit was published sometime in early June 1961 and the newspaper has been unidentified. Could be New Jersey Herald or the Newark Star Ledger. This is a clipping I inherited from William’s wife Beatrice, my grandmother.
“William Strait, Sr.” – Newton – Funeral services for William Charles Strait, Sr., of 43 Lincoln place, were conducted yesterday (Wednesday) morning from the Smith Funeral Home, 63 High street, to St. Joseph’s R.C. Church for a solemn high requiem mass. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Strait died Monday morning at his home after a long illness. Born at Lake Grinnell 50 years ago, he had lived in Newton most of his life. He was employed as a maintenance man by Clarence Lommerin, of Andover.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Beatrice Strait, a son, William, Jr., of Newton; a daughter, Miss Mercedes Marie Strait, at home; his mother, Mrs. Audrey Strait, of Newton; a brother, Carl, of Andover Township, and a sister, Mrs. Beatrice [this should be Bernice] Wood, of Newton.
