“Beatrice I. Guirreri” – Newton – Beatrice I. Guirreri, 99, of Newton, died Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Valley View Care Center in Newton.
Born in Analomic, Pa., Mrs. Guirreri lived in Stanhope and Netcong before moving to Newton in 1936. She was a former self-employed seamstress and worked out of her home. A member of St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in Newton, Mrs. Guirreri was also a member of Still Young in Stillwater Senior Citizens.
The daughter of the late George and Anna Carthouser [should be Karthaeuser] Repsher, Mrs. Guirreri was predeceased by her first husband, William Strait, in 1961, and her second husband, Joseph Guirreri, in 1980. She is survived by one daughter, Mercedes Scabet and husband, Jim, of Newton; one son, William Strait, Jr., and wife, Lorraine, of Andover Township; one stepdaughter, Mary Anne; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
