I intend this to be a place to share family history, photos, stories, and genealogical information about all the fascinating folks in my tree, both alive and deceased. Mainly from Sussex County, New Jersey, with a good smattering of Eastern Pennsylvania (Monroe and Northampton Counties) thrown in for good measure. Strait, Repsher, Westra, Kimble, Hunt, Karthauser, Bonser and Longcor relatives are just a few that will be falling out of the tree. Enjoy!

Do you happen to have a marriage certificate for either Peter Card and Phebe Angle or Henry Card and Phebe? These are my ancestors and I just wonder if you have a copy you could share the contents of? I love reading your blog. It has put real people on the pages instead of names. Thank you.

Ellie, Nice to meet you. We’re cousins of some sort since Phebe Angle is my 5th great-grandmother.
I do not have a marriage certificate for either of Phebe’s two marriages to Peter and Henry Card. The information comes from two items I have found:
Martha F. Strait, “Angle-Card-Strait Family History: Recollections of my Mother, Sarah Card Strait” (14 January 1909); folder: “Strait Family File”, vertical files; Sussex County Historical Society, Newton, New Jersey.
And
J. Percy Crayon, “The Crane Family,” Rockaway Records of Morris County, N.J. Families (Rockaway, NJ: Rockaway Publishing Co., 1902), 200-210.

Hello, I’ve enjoyed reading your blog and learning more about the Straits. Carl Strait was my grandfather. His middle name was actually Hope and not Havens. I am in possession of several of the same pictures you have here which has been interesting to see. Nice to ‘meet’ you.

Hi there, yes, I am still here. Just getting back into blogging after starting a new job in February 2018 and then the pandemic turning things a bit upside down over the last couple of years. Jodi Lynn Strait.

Hi, Andrew Leo Mery and Jennie Repsher Mery were my Aunt and Uncle. I have been trying to find more information about Andrew’s parents, Especially Blanche Seurat Mery, as I have not been able to find any documentation that proves she was in the United States, but according to her daughter’s, Theresa Blanche Mery Slegel, death certificate she was born in New York in 1888. Other documents place her birthdate as 1891. I would be interested to know if you have any other information on her, or John Mery. Sincerely, John Fisher

Hi John, you actually have more information than I do. I knew that Andrew Mery’s father’s name was John and that’s all I have. Jennie’s father, John Repsher, is my 2nd great-grandfather so I’ve got lots of Repsher info but I haven’t pursued filling in Andrew’s line (parents and/or grandparents) back since he’s not one of my ancestors. Hi,
I just want to say thank you for your hard work and research. I learned a lot about our family tree from some of your blogs. I’m a direct descendant of William Henry Hunt (my 3x great-grandfather) and Wesley Lincoln Hunt (my great-grandfather). I was wondering if you knew anything about Wesley’s father and William’s son, Charles Lincoln Hunt? He was born in 1871 in Sussex County and died in 1909 in a railroad accident in Jersey City.
